OPPO UDP-205 Reference

OPPO UDP-205 Reference

Product Description

OPPO UDP-205 Reference 4K Audiophile Blu-ray player modified by Audiocom AV provides a compelling home cinema experience combined with outstanding stereo and multi-channel audio. The UDP-205 Reference is a high-end media hub for all your video and audio requirements.

The UDP-205 Reference exploits OPPO’s powerful quad-core image processing and ES9038PRO 32-bit DAC with circuitry specially adapted to perfect the experience of image and sound quality.

Custom Specifications

Custom Low Noise Linear Power Supply: Ordinarily Blu-ray player’s use switch mode power supplies (SMPS). The switching from these power supplies introduce noise which inevitably is introduced to the circuitry. Due to the high frequency switching of these supplies they also create RFI which in turn affects the video and audio signal.

In contrast the 205 Reference utilises a top-end linear power supply with components specially selected for their low noise performance to delivery quiet, clean power to the circuitry. The benefit is a significant improvement in all spectrum of the players performance. For video, there is greater detail, truer colours, a more dynamic contrast, improved image stability, and better depth. Digital and analogue audio is also notably improved with better timing, increased resolution, greater depth, and improved sound-stage.

Improved Disc Read Accuracy: We discovered during disc playback that reducing interference fields and resonances in the disc transport could improve the performance of video and audio quality. For the 4K disc loader we apply a specialist material layer coating developed to absorb electromagnetic (RFI/EMI) energy, reduce static and cancel out unwanted resonances. The result is improved disc read accuracy, with improved colours and textures for a more realistic picture quality.

Audio Power Supplies: Analogue audio sound quality is largely influenced by its power supply. Our goal is to reduce unwanted noise and losses that affect the signal, less noise = cleaner signal and purer sound. In the 205 Reference we have upgraded the analogue power supplies to achieve maximum fidelity for 2-channel and 7.1-channel audio.

Femto Clock: To realise the full potential of the ES9038PRO chipset we have to achieve lowest phase noise (jitter). The clock selected for the 205 Reference has an astounding 68 Femtoseconds jitter RMS (frequency measurement 100 Hz to 100 KHz) , that’s 0.068 Picoseconds, amongst the lowest in the industry. The clock utilises ultra-low noise discrete regulator circuitry, 1.1nV/√Hz @1KHz with a PSRR of 132 db @ 6V. The implementation of this femto clock fully optimises the ES9038PRO so its full potential can be realised.

RFI Reduction & Resonance Control: The operating conditions audio are much improved when they can work in quiet environment. Inside any Blu-ray player the digital processing generates its own noise as well as succumbing to external noise which can affect the players overall performance. To achieve the quietest electrical conditions, in the 205 Reference we use materials to absorb EMI/RFI and remove unwanted resonances to achieve constantly the best performance regardless of the surroundings.
